Following on from my previous post 'Goodbye wonderful summer!' I said I would do a blog post about what was in my holiday beauty bag!
I was travelling ALOT throughout the west coast of America and it was so hot out there, even when it rained. I packed beauty products that were suitable for travelling (in that, I mean size wise), but also things that I needed to cater to the weather and everything else. You can't always take everything you want on holiday with you, nevertheless you can still pack things you need, without taking your whole wardrobe! So here goes!
My holiday beauty bag
Beauty Products:
- Garnier Body Intensive 7 days Body Lotion - My fave moisturising lotion for the summer with extract of aloe vera, which is great for nourishing the skin and locking in moisture- this is still important even when it's hot!
- YSL perfume
- Dove compressed deodorant - The new dove deodorant compressed cans are so handy for travelling and just in general, saves lugging around a big can.
- MAC Fix+ is great for spritzing your face and feeling refreshed. On holiday I liked spraying this when I wore little make-up or just my BB cream and some blusher, just to keep the look throughout the day.
- Aloe moisturising lotion - This is my hand cream and it is so moisturising yet quite light and not greasy. You can't buy this in stores, but I buy mine from Amazon.
- TRESemmé straightening spray with argan oil - Great for protecting your hair from the sun heat as well as styling tools.
- Batiste Dry shampoo - when out in the heat, it's not great to wash your hair often as your hair is already being targeted by the hot conditions, and too much treatment to the hair can be damaging. Although I don't really like using dry shampoo often, I had it with me in case I really needed it!
Facial products:
- Pure Vitamin E oil 70,000- This is a thick gel, and I often mix it with my night balm before I sleep and also with my body moisturiser. Vitamin E has so many skin benefits aside from being moisturising. They are very effective in protecting your skin from harmful rays also.
- Nivea Lip Butter, Vanilla and Macadamia
- Vitamin E moisture serum - I applied this to cleansed and toned skin before my moisturiser, and it just gives your skin that extra bit of moisturisation, freshness, suppleness and protection. Genuinely love this product!
- My cleanser, toner and night balm by Decléor all in travel sized containers.
- St Ive's naturally clear apricot scrub - Gotta keep up the exfoliating on holiday!
- Moisturising nail polish remover pads
Other bits:
- St Ive's cleansing wipes
- Comb
- Nail File
- Thread - This is so important when on holiday! Being away for a while means you have to do your own threading or tweezing!

I couldn't go to the states and not buy anything, I was able to pick up some beauties whilst I was out there!
Stay here pump by Kenneth Cole - Orange - $148.00 (I was actually able to grab these in a huge mid-season sale from the Kenneth Cole store in Santa Monica, LA for $69!). I fell in love with these the moment I saw them. I don't own a lot of statement colour shoes but when I tried these on, I realised that I could wear them with quite a few outfits. They look absolutely great with jeans. You may be able to tell from the picture but inside these shoes there is raised padding, and this makes for such a comfortable fit. Honestly I have walked around London in these heels in no pain at all!
It' safe to say that wherever I am, I have to visit a MAC store, and that means that 9 times out of 10 I will walk out with a little black bag. As I knew Autumn was approaching, I know I like to wear more warm colours, and I love the dark pinky red tone of this lipstick. Buying MAC in America is also slightly cheaper!
I definitely got my hands on this beauty from the Michael Kors store in San Francisco! I love the army green colour, and it's definitely a colour and style for the Autumn/Winter seasons. It's actually really spacious inside and has so many compartments which is so good for me because I am always losing things in my bag! I like the fact that I can use it in different ways, on my arm, or using the adjustable strap. This bag comes in so many different colours too!

What was in there?
Some of my favourite summer lipsticks/ lip glosses:
A few nail polishes:
Some of my most bought nail polishes are by Maybelline- I adore their colours and the finish of the polish. I also think they last a long time!
- Maybelline 130 Rose Poudre
- KiKo 317 Dark Antique Pink
- Maybelline 182 Solar Flare
- KiKo 346 Olive Drab
My face products:
To be honest, because it was so hot out there, during the day I hardly wore/ didnt wear any makeup because I was too busy applying sun cream! One thing I cant stand is wearing heavy make up in hot weather, it sort of melts off and I feel scared to touch my face! But in the evenings when I went out and it was a little cooler I wore abit of make up then :)
- MAC Blazing Haute, Extra Dimension Blush
- Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Medium - I generally use my BB cream far more than foundation, it's lighter and moisturising and gives a flawless finish with a slight bit of needed coverage; and this particular one is by far the best BB cream I have used.
- MAC Moisture Cover Concealer - NC35
- Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - I absolutely LOVE this primer, it literally glides onto your face creating a smooth canvas and really lets your foundation blend in so well. I also have the shimmer primer too which is also great and adds a little shimmer to your look.
- MAC Bronzing Powder, Refined Golden
Other bits:
- Sigma Kabuki Brush for applying foundation
- Bronzing/ Contouring brush
- L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes - I have such long eye lashes and so finding the perfect mascara is really hard for me *sigh*. But this mascara by L'Oreal has been doing the job fantastically so far!
- MAC Stripdown Lipliner - my favourite 'everyday' liner
- Shiseido Automatic Fine Eyeliner in Black - I have used this liquid eyeliner for years, and although it is rather pricey, I just absolutely love the ease of applying eye liner with this.
Obviously everyone has a different holiday beauty/make up bag and of course it really does depend on where you are going. My holiday beauty advice is that you should always look up where you are going and what you will be doing, and check the weather forecast to make sure you have the things you NEED aside from all the things you want to take with you.
When on holiday hopefully you're there to relax and have a good time, honestly I would rather spend more time at the beach relaxing or sight-seeing than doing my make-up but hey ho thats just me, so take products with you that are quick and easy to apply and just let your hair down! My other beauty tip for going on holiday to a sunny place is to actually wear no foundation, but instead moisturisers (even tinted ones if you like) that contain SPF. If you are prone to break-outs or you require some skin loving then soak up the sun because the natural source of vitamin D is so good for you! Just take care and wear sun protection. Beauty therapists often tell their clients that they treat their skin for, to get some rays because it will really help clear up blemishes.
So that's all from my flashback of summer! Let's enjoy the Autumn!
Love Nimisha
xoxo
