REVIEW : Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallette

Before Christmas I got my hands on the much anticipated Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, and I was very excited! I had seen some great reviews about the palette and as I am a frequent user of Urban Decay I could not wait to try out this product.

I already have the Naked 1 palette and it is by far my favourite selection of eye-shadows and it is my go-to palette. I knew that Naked 3 was slightly different with lighter pinky shades and just a few darker shades. I don't have Naked 2 because I was so excited at the release of the first palette that when it came out, I didn't feel the need to get it, and then never ended up buying it! No doubt I will now go back and buy it just to have all three!!

The Naked Basics palette also came out which hosted six matte colours, and these were matte versions of six of the colours from the Naked 1 palette. I don't particularly wear matte eyeshadows and the tones of the "basics" palette weren't for me, as with my skin tone they look slightly ashy and fade easily.

Upon opening the palette my first impressions were fairly positive. It's a very pretty palette and the colours are lovely. The left hand side of the palette displays some very light pinky colours and gradually moves into more taupe-hue colours and eventually to dark shades. My favourite shade in the palette is 'Liar' (8th in from the left) as its a rose-gold shimmery shadow that is great for a blended smokey eye with any dark colour and really adds a pop to the eye. My least favourite are both the matte shades 'Strange' (1st and 4th from left) and 'Limit'. I think this is because I'm not too keen on lighter matte colours as they fade easily on my eyelids.

Packaging
I like the packaging. When I first took the palette out of the box I thought it was quite light, and the embossed look and feel is quite unique and distinctive. The Naked 1 palette has a nice velvet covering which I liked, however I did appreciate the fact that this cover closes properly. I think the tin packaging went down well with the Naked 2 palette so they continued with this look. It keeps the palette tidy, clean and is more practical. I like the large mirror and the brush that comes along with it is great and makes the shadows easy to apply.

Shadow Selection
I would say that I prefer the shadow shades towards the right hand side of the palette as I like a more bronzed to smokey feel and light pinks and beiges stand out almost too much against my skin tone. I think however that these lighter shades are great for creating a smokey eye and brightening up the inner corners of the eyelid. This is generally a more rose gold palette, with 2 matte colours, 4 glitter shadows, 1 matte-satin, and the rest are a mixture of shimmer and satin. The more 'taupe-like' shades are my favourite of the selection.

Final Thoughts
I do give this palette a big thumbs-up and its a great addition to the Urban Decay Naked collection. It isn't my favourite palette however, as the Naked 1 has more of a variety of shades in the bronze-hue selection and this palette has gone in a rose-gold direction with lighter tones and more shimmer. Like all Urban Decay eyeshadows the pigment is fantastic and long-lasting. I love the fact that when I am applying their eye-shadows, it sticks well, particularly when using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potions, and hardly any shadow falls onto your cheeks. I would recommend adding this palette to your collection, but if you're going for a shadow range that is more all round that you would grab if you could only take one- I don't think it's this one… Personally I'd grab the Naked 1 palette!

Availability
Before Christmas it was pretty hard to get hold of as it sold out quickly and if you were lucky enough to pre-order then thats great. I ordered mine from the Debenhams online website for £37, which is the standard price for all 3 palettes.
