Rihanna has yet again produced a winner. I always get quite excited when Rihanna releases new make-up at MAC because I think she's got a really unique range and I've loved everything she has come out with so far.
So it was no surprise that when she launched this Frost Viva Glam lipstick, I just had to get it. I have Rihanna's MAC Matte RIRI Woo, so I wanted to see how this colour differed seeing as they are both red, and I love a red lipstick! I was also in America at the time so it is abit cheaper there ($16 which is roughly £9!), and that really completes the justifiable reasons for my make-up splurge.
One of the reasons I was so drawn to this lipstick is because it is part of the "Frost" range of MAC lipsticks. I have another three favourite lipsticks from this range ('O', 'Sequin', 'Jist') and I love the colours and texture of these lipsticks. Being from the Frost range, the lipstick is easy to apply and equally easily removed, so it's one of those that you have to keep on applying throughout the day/night and definitely with a lipliner.
There are many differences between Viva Glam and RIRI Woo. The most obvious being the type of lipstick. Below I have compared the two lipsticks.
Viva Glam is a gorgeous satin/ gloss lipstick with a blue-red frost finish. Personally I can't really see the blue base on me. I suppose that depends on your undertones and natural lip colour. Viva Glam glides on really well and provides a hydrating glossy effect which I really like. These lipsticks have a more oily component so they tend to look darker in the tube than when applied. This lipstick doesn't last as long as matte lipsticks wear-wise; I found that I had to re-apply it after a while. Nonetheless it is still a gorgeous bold colour that could be worn day or night. I also adore the red casing and the fact that it's for a great cause; the full RRP of this lipstick goes towards helping men, women and children affected by aids.

RIRI Woo is a very fine example a true matte lipstick and colour. There is no shine and it is a deep opaque colour. This lipstick for me, lasts a long time and does not rub off easily. And I always have to wear RIRI Woo with a lipliner in order to neaten out the edges as any rough application and can be seen with this shade! I often have to apply matte colours with a nice layer of lip balm underneath to smooth out the application. I personally prefer my bold matte colours at night and stick to a glossier finish during the day.
